I received my undergraduate degree in History from San Diego State University. As part of my studies, I traveled to China, as part of the National Youth Leadership Forum on Integrated Medicine. Over the course of a month, I spent time in three of China’s largest public hospitals, and witnessed the high level of integration between western medicine and Chinese medicine. The large patient population in China is treated at very low costs through the economical approaches of integrative Chinese medicine. Seeing a government providing managed care for such a large number of people was a powerful experience, and I brought home a deeper appreciation for China’s culture and history.
A severe shoulder injury was my own personal introduction to acupuncture as a patient. When I was faced with the prospect of invasive surgical repairs, my experience in China directed my care straight towards an Acupuncturist. I devoted myself to the treatment plan and rehabilitation, and recovered fully from my injury, without surgery. This experience was the catalyst for my enrollment in the four year Master of Science program in integrative Chinese medicine.
I have continued to advanced my studies in Orthopedics and Sports Medicine with consistent focus over the last 15 years. As a trail runner and strength training enthusiast I love that I can specialize in this field to help get fellow athletes and weekend warriors back into the activities they love.
I have also completed several advanced programs in women’s health care with Traditional Chinese acupuncture.. I am Board Certified with the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine which should give patients the confidence that they will receive a level of care and understanding which is higher than the average general practitioner. Acupuncture has many benefits to offer female patients at all ages of life and goes far beyond the concept of health and wellness in our western medical system.
